LEXAPRO time to work?
I've been on Lexapro for 3 weeks now. First 2 weeks, 10mg. Now up to 20mg. I heard it can be as little as 1-2 weeks to work. I did notice a day or two where I was more motivated and happy but its no different than how I was without the drug. I am wondering if I will be motivated and happy consistently in the next couple weeks. Does anyone have any positive experiences to share??

It sounds like pretty typical anxiety. It is horrible. The lexapro will not reach full effectiveness for about 2 months. Infact, when I took lexapro I had ups and downs for a good few months at first, and after that I was consistantly better, so make sure you give it time to work and know that it can take a while to be consistant. It is a bad patch now but I'm sure you'll start to feel better soon. I've been there x
answer: . time: 1970-01-17 12:00:46I have the same exact problems as you and have for 11 years. My doctor prescribes me Xanax because it works right away on the anxiety.....there's also Ativan or Valium but they can become addictive but as long as you don't take them for an extended time. Trust me, honey, I have horrible anxiety also. As a matter of fact, I was starting to feel as though my meds weren't working so I went to the doctor today and he changed every one of them because I was a mess. They had worked for so long but sometimes they do stop working and they have to try another combination. I tried Lexapro for the first time today and he also gave me Buspar which is for anxiety also. You can IM me if you want afurtek@yahoo.com

answer: FastEddie time: 1970-01-03 05:00:26I'm sorry you are having such a difficult time. Yes, I know the feeling. Many other people I'm sure feel this way. Bless your heart. Maybe the medicine will help more. Try to go easy on yourself. It's something that will take time. Your doctor may have a follow up appointment for you. If not, make one if the medicine doesn't seem to help more. Doctors usually start out with a lower dose and go up as needed. If you could talk to your husband and gets things worked out there, I think that would help since you have been depressed since the fight. It sounds like you are still so upset about that. When that is alright maybe the other things will get straightened out as well. I hope you get all the help you need. God bless you.
