Open Question
I am a hypochondriac and I don't know how to handle my thoughts.?
I also think I suffer from OCD, which is causing my repetitive thoughts. I want to stop these thoughts so badly, because they affect my life so much. It's gotten so bad that I have stopped eating meat all together because I have a phobia of getting food poisoning. Also, I constantly check my pulse to be sure my heart is beating as it should. I have been diagnosed with GAD, and I do have panic attacks often. I have seen tons of doctors and had my heart checked by a pediatric cardiologist and they said that my test results came out normally. Unfortunately, I cannot convince myself that there is nothing wrong. Can someone please help me understand what to do?

Clearly you need to start going to sleep much earlier. I know some people who just can't go to sleep and thats called insomnia. So look that up and if you think you might have it, go see a doctor to discuss it.
answer: Ethan time: 2010-08-30 19:29:23My daughter is 20 years old and Im *still* waiting for her to sleep through the night! She does the same exact thing. Its easy to say 'go to bed earlier', but Im not sure its as simple as that. From what I have witnessed with my daughter, she can go to bed at 9 or 10 but she cant actually go to sleep until 2 or 3 a.m. This is the result even if she stays on a 'normal' schedule for an extended amount of time. Then, she sleeps 12-14 hours. My advice (even though my daughter wont do it...) is to talk to a doctor. If you can afford it, consider having a sleep study done. In the meantime, try relaxation activities in the early evening. Avoid caffeine and anything else that can cause or enhance stress. Tell your friends the phone is being turned off at 9 p.m.Until you figure out what works for you, get a 2nd job! :)

answer: she's country time: 2010-08-23 13:58:17I have the same problem. I can't sleep at a normal time and my husband gets on to me. Try staying up the whole night. And don't go to sleep until 9pm. Set your alarm to what ever time you need to get up for work. Keep doing this until you have a normal sleeping patteren. It may not work for long but you can try. I've tried it and it worked for me. But now i think it's wearing off. And my husband got on to me yesterday for it.
