Using clean materials, move the hair back and soak up the blood so you can see the size of the laceration. Keep in mind that the head has many blood vessels surrounding it, causing more blood to flow out than expected. Do not panic if the person's head has a lot of blood flowing out of the wound. use some gauze or paper towels to dab the wound so you can see how big the cut is. Most often it is smaller than you would imagine. Apply constant pressure to the wound for at least 5 minutes to allow the blood to coagulate. If the bleeding has subsided and the cut looks small, no additional medical care is necessary. If the wound is still bleeding, or the laceration is large or wide, the patient may need to go out the hospital or doctors office to get stitches
