Have you changed your detergent recently? Has your son started eating anything new recently? It's hard because it really could be something small and simple but try and think of things that changed at the same time his hives started. He may still be exposed to it and that is why the medication isn't working. Take the medication as prescribed until it's gone, if then the doctor doesn't change his mind about the seriousness then see another pediatrician
